There is no place like home. For this reason, I believe, Jesus often likens your body to your house. Remember, we all have a physical body and a spiritual body. (I Corinthians. 15:35:58).
Let's begin our study in John Chapter 14:1. Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure to claim His throne. He reassures them by promising them to send the Comforter.
John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
John 14:2. In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
There is no need to worry. This is a promise from Jesus Christ. He has prepared a home for you. And when we get there, I am certain you will feel just as you do when you arrive home from vacation.
You will experience the joy and peace that you feel in your own house. In a sense you become part of the house of God. There is no need to fear. One usually only fears the unknown. When you study your Father's Word, there is nothing unknown.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Christ went to the right hand of God. He is your Intercessor. When you are in Him, and He in you, you are already there.
John 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know."
John 14:5 Thomas saith unto Him, "Lord, we know not whither Thou goest; and how can we know the way?" You must understand, Thomas didn't have the same advantage as you and I have. We have the Word. We know where Christ went, and we know the way to join Him in our Father's house. If you are looking forward to an elaborate mansion, you are thinking earthly. You should be thinking of your spiritual home as a place of rest and peace of mind. Let's continue our study in II Corinthians.
II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. When you are finished with your flesh house, it returns to dust. But, don't ever forget you have a spiritual house. This is very important. Don't let Satan or anyone else sidetrack you from this fact.
II Corinthians 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
II Corinthians 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. Paul is pointing out that making it to the eternity is one thing; however, don't be naked when you get there. As it is written in Revelation, your clothing in the eternity is made up of your righteous acts in the flesh. How are you doing, friend?
II Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. It is such a joy weaving that fabric by sharing God's truth with others. Death is swallowed up with eternal life for you and for those you help to find Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 5:5 Now He That hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, Who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
The word "earnest" in this verse is a legal term. It means a guarantee. That is a promise from God.
II Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
II Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. This is talking about our physical body when our sprit leaves our house and goes back to our heavenly father. I don't know about you, but I want to be well dressed when I meet the Lord. Don't be ashamed. Earn your clothing do your home work read Gods word.
Let's turn to the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:14 For He is our peace, Who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Christ is our peace, or rest. There is no other true rest but though Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, In other words; there is only one temple, one family, one way through Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ replaces the blood ordinances for one and all time. The law remains intact.
Ephesians 2: 16 And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: Jesus made it possible for all to enter the gate. None of us would have made it. If we were judged by the law. Christ earned the right to say, "You're home children. Welcome come in".
Ephesians 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. He preached to the righteous and the unrighteous Jesus preached His message to all flesh, Israelite and Gentile alike. Paul's ministry was directed wholly to the Gentile nations, and the lost "House of Israel", not into the Jews [Acts 9:15].
Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. This "One Spirit" is the "Holy Spirit", through our Father Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; Because of Jesus Christ's shed blood, we are fellow citizens in Christ's kingdom, His body, with all the other saints.
Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone; I hope the foundation of your house is built on the Word of God and Jesus Christ. If not, you really don't have a house, friend. You are out of luck. Let's turn to the Book of James as we continue our study. God expects you to be the master of your house.
James 4:3 ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. 2560 kakos kak-oce'amiss, diseased, evil, grievously, miserably, sick, sore.
Don't ask God for things that pleasure yourself. You won’t receive them. Rather ask for things that will allow you to serve the Father better. He will add blessings on to your requests that will give you pleasure.
James; 4:4 Ye adulterers and adultresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
James; 4:5 do ye think that the Scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? Sometimes our flesh bodies request things that are contrary to God. That shouldn't come as a surprise to any of us. The flesh is weak. Strive to concentrate on your spiritual body. With God's help, it is much stronger.
James 4:6 But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." Listen carefully. This is how you can clean house and be the master of your own house.
James. 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. When Satan shows up at your house trying to cause trouble, order him out in the name of Jesus. The choice is yours. You can put up with Satan and his army, or you can take charge of your house.
Once your house is clean, there is something in Matthew you need to know. Go whit me.
Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Unclean spirits don't like dry places. They want a nice warm and moist house, such as a human body.
Matthew 12:44 Then he saith, 'I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. If you don't fill your house with Jesus Christ and God's Word, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished it is empty. Guess what happens next.
Matthew 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation." Your house is far too precious for you to allow Satan and his to have rule in your house. You will have no peace, or rest, in your home as long as you allow Satan to dwell there. Take care of your house fill it with Jesus. You'll find the instructions in God's Word.
Let's back up a bit in this same Chapter. We will pick it up with Jesus just having cleaned a house. There were some critics nearby. They said His power was of Beelzebub.
Matthew 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Matthew 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself,' how shall then his kingdom stand? Satan's kingdom won't stand; however, Jesus is making the point that if He were of Beelzebub, that is to say Satan, He certainly wouldn't be giving devils a hard time.
Matthew 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. I’m sure at that point the critics looked over at their children and asked, "By whom do you cast devils out?" Then their children said, "We can't cast out devils." Jesus certainly has a way of making a point by asking a question.
Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Matthew 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house. In the name of Jesus Christ you become strong with the power to bind Satan. Don't forget, Satan will flee from you, if you submit yourself to God and resist the devil. Clean the negative part out of your house that is to say satan.
Matthew 12:30 He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad.
This is how you tell the houses apart, whether they are of Satan, or of Christ. If your are in God's Word, then you can understand pretty close the plan of God, and the Spirit of that understanding will let you know if the work is of God or of Satan. If the teaching or the words follow the plan of God, then you know that it is of God, and that person is true. You can't have it two ways; you are either for God, or against Him. Any twisting of God's Word, is what Satan does.
Let me give you an illustration.
There was once a young man who was the proud owner of a new house, it had two stories. Upstairs and downstairs with five bedrooms on each floor. The young man was so proud of his beautiful house that it meant everything in his life. Now one morning there was a ever so gentle knock on the front door, and when the young man open the door and saw who was standing there it was the Lord Jesus, and the Lord Jesus said you heard my knocking and you opened your door. And then Jesus said, may I come in, and the owner of the house said, Yes Jesus you may come in. And then the owner said Jesus I will give you the best room in the house. It is upstairs, yes Jesus it’s the fineness in the house, and the Lord Jesus said thank you ever so much, and Jesus stayed in that one room, Jesus is a gentleman.
Now the next morning there was a very terrible knock on the front door, the owner of the house opened the door and who standing there was Satan himself, yes standing at the front door. Now the owner of the house wanted to quickly shut the front door, but Satan is no gentlemen, Satan came in and began to struggle all that day with the owner of the house emptying buckets full of Jealousy, Arguments, Filthiness, and Temptations. The owner of the house fought and fought, all that day, and even through the night till finally the owner of the house threw Satan out and locked the door. The owner was exhausted, he was very tired, then the owner said to himself, wait a minute! The Lord Jesus is upstairs I gave him the best room in the house, didn’t the Lord hear my struggles, didn’t the Lord hear my screams, why didn’t he come to help me, then the owner said I must go and ask Him. The owner walked up and said Lord Jesus, why didn’t you help me? Then Jesus said my son, out of the Ten Rooms you occupy nine of them, and you only gave me one! Then the owner of the house said, I can see my mistake lets make it fifty fifty, You take all of the top floors, and I will take all of the bottom floors, and then Jesus said thank you very much, You see, Jesus is a gentlemen.
Now the very next day early in the morning there was a terrible pounding on the front door, and the owner said could this be the Devil again, or maybe the neighbor, or someone else, the owner thought for a second and said to himself, let me just open the door just a little bit and peak through it, if it’s the Devil I will quickly close it.
Then the owner of the house opened the door a little bit, and surely it was the Devil. Now before he could close the door the Devil had his foot in there, and the struggle started all over again all that day and night, and finally in the early morning hours he got the Devil out. The young man was so tired, and then he said wait a minute. Why didn’t the Lord Jesus help me, why! Then the young man said I must go and ask Him, and the young man said Lord Jesus, why didn’t you come to my rescue, Jesus I gave you the whole top floor. Then the Lord said my son, why don’t you give me all the Rooms! In your house, and then instead of me staying with you, you stay with me!
Then the owner of the house kneeled down and took the keys out of his pocket and said, today I give this house to you, this is your house, and these are your keys, Lord Jesus this is your house. Now the next day early in the morning while it was still dark there was a terrible Knocking on the front door, the young man jumps out of bed and says to himself, oh my God, it’s the Devil again. Then suddenly the young man heard foot steps, mighty foot steps, but this time it was inside the house. Then the young man thought for a few seconds and said, I am not the owner of this house; I don’t have the keys any more. I gave the keys to Jesus to open the front door. Then the young man saw Jesus coming down the stairs walking like the King of Kings, then Jesus opened the front door, the young man jumps behind Jesus so he can see what’s about to happen. And what did the young man see, yes it was Satan, standing in front of the door, but when Satan saw Jesus, he bowd very low, and Satan said, excuse me I knocked on the wrong door.
You see beloved, when Jesus comes in gave Him all the rooms of your house.
There are some that only give Jesus Nine rooms of their house. And on the door number ten they have written, strictly private, do not come in. It’s because that’s were they have their secret sins like Jealousy under the bed, like filthiness under the pillow, and all of their temptations in their Chester draw.
You see, we can fool the people and hide our secret sins, but we can’t fool our Lord Jesus. So you see, it does not pay to be a half Christian, So give all you have to Jesus, He is now standing at the door and knocking. Give all of your rooms of your house to Him, and every area of your life, and Beloved, He will make you holy, He will make you happy, He will wash you and keep you clean, beloved, that is his promise to us.
Be the master of your own house. Don't put up with Satan in your house. Fill your house with God's Word and Jesus Christ, and Satan will flee from you. Christ said, "I go to prepare a place for you." That place of rest is available to you today. I hope you have already moved in.
